Variability of High Frequency Head Rotation Test in Normal Subjects
Abstract
High frequency head rotation test has been suggested as a method of assessing the vestibuloocular reflex. The purpose of this study was to investigate the test-retest variability of this test in normal subjects for the future clinical
application.
Ten
asymptomatic, healthy subjects were tested 3 times repeatedly over the frequency range 1.0 to 6Hz using Vorteq system (Micromedical Technologies). Results indicated that meant of gain, phase and asymmetry were stable form 1Hz up to 6Hz but
standard
deviations increased as the frequency increased, and test-retest variability increased over 3Hz. There findings provide a motivation for the future studies to investigate the factors which can affect the test results and to develop a new test
method.
